WASHINGTON: The United States on Tuesday condemned the terrorist attack on Quetta's Police Training Centre in which 61 cadets were martyred and 117 including two FC personnel injured. A captain of the Pakistan Army also embraced martyrdom during the attack.
Addressing a press briefing, spokesperson for the Department of State John Kirby expressed sympathy for the cadets who were martyred in the attack as well as those who had been injured.
"In this difficult hour, we are with the people and government of Pakistan," said Kirby.
He added that the United States was working with Pakistan to thwart terrorism and militancy.
On Monday night, terrorists stormed the Police Training College in Quetta’s suburbs and opened fire on the cadets and security personnel. Two suicide bombers blew themselves up inside the training centre. One suicide bomber was killed by the security forces before he could detonate himself. The compound was cleared after an intense operation which lasted four hours.
