• Corps Commander Rawalpindi visits LoC after Indian firing

RAWALPINDI: Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lt General Malik Zafar Iqbal on Thursday visited the Line of Control after a fresh spate of unprovoked Indian firing.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, Lt Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal visited Nakial and Karela sectors of Azad Kashmir at the LoC.
During his visit, the Corps Commander visited Army personnel deployed at the defacto border.
Lt Gen Iqbal praised Army personnel’s befitting response to unprovoked Indian firing that continued for a long time, the ISPR said.
The Corps Commander also paid a visit to the civilians injured in the Indian firing.
Earlier today, Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to lodge a protest over the ceasefire violation at the LoC..
On Wednesday, at least one civilian was martyred and five others wounded as a result of continuing unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian forces across the LoC, said the ISPR.
India has been violating the ceasefire at the LoC and in September two Pakistani soldiers were martyred in a violation. India claimed it had carried out 'surgical strikes' but this claim was dismissed by Pakistan. The government of Narendra Modi has also been criticised by opposition parties in India for failing to provide any evidence of the surgical strikes claim.
